Has the stress of recent months left you feeling flat? Do you need a lift?
We all want to feel a little lighter, clearer and brighter, and we want to help you achieve this!
]]>When the weight of the world feels like it's on your shoulders, or you're feeling weighed down with the family, the jobs and the endless list of tasks, you're not alone and you don't have to accept that this is the new version of 'normal'. You can easily run out of steam, but here is how our Altearah White can provide a beautiful, easy solution to boost your energy and give you that extra lift.
To achieve that lift, extra energy needs to be part of the process. Energy comes from light, so more light gives you more energy.
White has the highest frequencies of light and energy, flowing from the sun. When you are looking for new ways to grow and change look for the light. Everything in nature grows to the light and light creates expansion and greater possibility. Delivering more light into the body can lift and expand our consciousness assisting us to evolve new ways of thinking and being.
White is also the purifier of all things. It clears mental, emotional and physical pollution and toxicity.
When you are feeling exhausted at the end of a long day it may not be due to only physical tiredness, but to the energetic pollution that you have accumulated throughout the day. Our sensory systems are bombarded with so much stimulus; sounds around us, traffic, digital information, signs and signals, electromagnetic equipment, chemicals in our personal care, our food, water and even in the air we breathe. So, it’s not surprising we go into overwhelm at times with all the stress, expectations and demands on us, as well as all these physical factors!
Therefore, when it comes to our products to help combat this, our Altearah white wellness spray, several times throughout the day will help combat the overload.
Altearah White colour blend is composed of Camphor, Cedar, Geranium, Lavender, Mandarin, Orange and Tee Tree. This perfect combination is the recipe for Purity, transparency, release and regeneration.
Use your white wellness spray to clear your mind when you are searching for more clarity, and will relax and revitalise you as you move from one situation to another.
Use the white body oil daily to achieve a noticeable sense of purity, lightness and vitality throughout the body and again at night to cleanse the pollution of the day and aid restful sleep.
]]>Do you or someone you know, suffer from anxiety?
In a time when the world feels chaotic and unpredictable, it can be hard to remain calm and positive.
An anxiety attack can be debilitating and is difficult for family members and onlookers to comprehend. The incidence of anxiety is escalating. As the world continues to change at an accelerating rate and fear is propagated from every corner, there is little relief for anxiety sufferers.
]]>The definition of anxiety: an anxiety disorder is characterised by excessive uncontrollable and often irrational worry, that is, apprehensive expectations about events or activities.
From my experience in my kinesiology clinic, anxiety is very much a nervous system condition. Unlike depression which is more of an emotional / chemical, heart dysfunction, anxiety is more complicated. I find depression easier to heal; once we find the cause of the hurt or disappointment and clear the suppressed emotions the depression lifts quite well.
But anxiety is a different kettle of fish. There are usually a lot of mental and emotional defence patterns that we need to navigate, as the person’s mind is working hard to protect him or herself from old fears. The cause of the fear has usually occurred very early on in their life as well as the influence of inherited patterns. There is a fundamental fear of not being safe in this world and so the nervous system is working overtime to vigilantly maintain its radar for anything that might be threatening. The anxiety sufferer lives in a constant state of fight or flight.
As well as clearing all the fears and threats I work with my clients to retrain their nervous system. We work on
Plus I don’t know where I would be without my Altearah Bio kit.
The Altearah bio products provide some wonderful solutions that I rely on and highly recommend as support tools for my clients. Let me explain:
The silver perfume spray is an instant and powerful relief in preventing anxious feelings taking hold or for winding down when going through a panic attack. The silver aromatherapy blend when used in the spray and inhaled three or four times instantly changes the brain chemistry.
The Royal Purple Body Oil works on calming the nervous system and delivers a sense of comfort and safety. It’s an important aid for anxiety sufferers as it helps to anchor your energy into the ground and creates stability, builds courage and reduces nervousness. This Energy blend offers great support for the adrenal glands which are exhausted through times of anxiety.
Using this oil daily, preferably morning and night gives the body a solid energy base, builds a deep structure and a sense of security but above all repairs the effects of stress.
There are other products in the Altearah Bio range that may be of additional help to you or someone you love who is struggling with the effects of anxiety. Turquoise aids sleep and calms a busy mind, blue can calm anxiety and restore a sense of peace depending on your particular condition, and emerald can be the breath of fresh air you need when you're feeling anxious, restoring your personal space and easing the pressure of daily life, giving you a sense of direction.

It's probably a bit of a chicken and egg, and it depends on which way you look at it. Some people would say, when you look good then you feel good. Or is it when you feel good you look good?

Hi! I want to talk to you today about another common occurring theme that I see a lot in my kinesiology practice. Today I want to talk about responsibility. We all have a lot of responsibility and it often makes us feel overwhelmed and burden. Quite often I see people who feel like they're not carrying the responsibility well and they're not performing in the way they want to.
What I've discovered over many years in my practice is the relationship between how we see responsibility today and how we've experienced it in the past, particularly in our early childhood.
So, let me explain it like this. If you have a lot of responsibility, you need to have an equivalent amount of power. Power means that you feel competent that you're able to do something about it. Responsibility and power go together. We know this with teenagers. If they want more independence and more self-empowerment, then they need to take more responsibility. That's how we grow up.
If you had been given a lot of responsibility when you were a child, this may have created an imbalance as a child doesn't have any power. If a child or young person is given a lot of responsibility but not the power, then the gap between the responsibility and the power can cause a lot of low-self esteem.
We can judge ourselves harshly because we feel like, "I have this responsibility. I want to fix these things." Often we want to fix the relationships within our family, things that aren't going on well maybe with our parents, or our siblings, or the family circumstances. If you were young and you felt like you took on responsibility for some of those relationships and for some of the dynamic that was going on in your family, you would've taken on a lot of responsibility, but you didn't have the power. This will be one of the common reasons why many of us have low esteem. We feel we can't do what we need to do. We feel overwhelmed by the challenges in our life.
So, what I recommend people do is, have a look at the responsibilities you've got.
We talk about doing business plans and setting our goals. If you think about this: 1, what I'm responsible for and 2, have a plan to achieve that and make it on a timeline. "Okay. So, this week, I need to do this, and I need to be responsible for this today." Then it breaks it down and it makes it feel much more achievable and a lot easier for you to accomplish it the way you want to. Then, you'll feel good.
So, I hope that makes some sense, and you get encouragement and empowerment out of that. Let me know what you think.
Please post in the comments below and tell me how you're coping with your responsibility and your level of power. Okay.

]]>When you experience a lack of energy it takes all the fun out of life. Lethargy and boredom means that it’s extra hard to achieve your goals which leads to lower self-esteem and a lack of purpose and further despondency.
On the flip side when you have more energy you get more enjoyment out of life:
It changes everything:
- more motivationI’ve put together my top 5 tips to quickly and easily get you back on the right track.
I always like to keep things simple and practical so with only 5 things to focus on you can do them all and turn things around for a better life.
Easily the most common reason a lack of energy is dehydration. Your body is made of around 50 - 70% water, so it’s fairly important!!
Water assists with flow; it keeps everything moving and without it the body slows down and dries up.
Breaking this down into the 3 important areas that you’ll want to know about.
The body:
Water is the most critical building block for the body. Every single cell is predominately made up of water so it affects the function of every organ.
It is the major ingredient in all your body fluids: within the cells and between the cells.
You lose water constantly throughout the day so it needs to be replaced to maintain optimum water balance.
Water content regulation is one of the most important parts of homeostasis due to its influence on blood pressure and cardiac output.
The brain:
Your brain consists of 90% water – lack of water in the brain and the central nervous system is a major contributor to tiredness, fogginess, lack of clarity and memory loss. A lack of hydration causes a lack in brain integration meaning you do not have both sides brain at the same time. Water carries the electrical energy for all brain functions, including thought and memory processes. The glands in the brain produce vital hormones and neurotransmitters needed to direct the functions of the entire body. Nerve transmission requires one-half of all the brain’s energy.
Dehydration can lead your brain turning of, confusing and crossing signals slowing your reaction time and making you clumsy. Like the rest of the body, water supplies the brain with the essential energy, maintains nerve signals, provides nutrients and removes toxins.
The skin:
How much money do you spend on skincare? We all want lovely plump skin but it’s not so much what you put on it but rather what you put in your body that contributes to beautifully hydrated skin.
Your skin is the largest organ of the body and most importantly ladies it’s the one that everyone gets to see. Hydration means increasing the amount of water in your skin cells, which results in a healthy, smooth and plump complexion. Dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling.
So for your skins sake drink more water.
There is great debate about how much water to drink each day. The general consensus suggests about 2ltrs but that varies a lot depending on level of exercise and sweating, what you eat and dehydrating drinks such as alcohol, tea coffee and soft drinks. Drink lots of smaller amounts throughout the day rather than trying to get it all in at once or the kidneys will just pee it out. Ingested water is absorbed mainly in the small intestine. It appears in the blood as soon as 5 minutes after ingestion.
Each time you smile you activate neural messaging that benefits your health and happiness. ... The feel good neurotransmitters dopamine, endorphins and serotonin are all released when a smile flashes across your face as well. These neurotransmitters are triggered by the movements of the muscles in your face, which are interpreted by your brain, which then releases the cascade of beneficial chemicals. Endorphins are responsible for making us feel happy, and they also help lower stress levels.
Faking a smile or laugh works as well as the real thing—the brain doesn’t differentiate between real or fake as it interprets the positioning of the facial muscles in the same way. The more we stimulate our brain to release this chemical the more often we feel happier and relaxed.
You can’t smile and feel angry at the same time – try it for yourself.
Thinking about what you want, what makes you happy, what makes your heart sing, delights you and inspires you, creates excitement in the brain and then throughout the body. Anticipation is the best stimulant for the brain. It gets excited and starts pumping out those positive brain chemicals such as dopamine. It is released from the brain’s frontal lobe and acts as a stimulant that prevents pain, stimulates arousal and causes more excitement.
When my clients come to see me in my kinesiology clinic we usually start talking about how things are going and in particular we discuss what’s not going so well. It makes sense that they tell me what they want help with. But what used to surprise me is how many people can talk all day about what they don’t want but they cannot answer the question “what do you want”?
Write a list of your goals and dreams, it makes them more concrete and helps you get clear. You could also create a vision board made up of images depicting what your dream or goal looks like. Then most of all feel what it feels like when you have it. That’s where the gold is. Positive visualisation is only part of the solution you must feel what it feels like then you are half way there.
The Reticular Activating System in a tiny part of the brain that feeds your awareness more of what you focus on. If you focus on a problem then you’ll get more of it so it’s more beneficial to focus on what you want.
We all know it but I have to say it again; exercise boosts your energy and fights fatigue. The body has to create more energy producing cells to meet the demands of your extra activity and so it improves the energy output.
Physically, exercise increases respiration rate and therefore the amount of oxygen in the blood. It also boosts circulation, strength and stamina.
Emotionally it boosts the feel-good hormones and neurotransmitters. It’s allows you have some time for you, time to look after yourself and give your body what it needs. Imagine how good you feel when you can feel proud of yourself.
Exercise:
All of which improves your energy.
You don’t have to do a massive boot camp or run a marathon. If you are not the gym type then just go for a little walk or stretch. Raise your arms and bend your back and legs a few time using lovely big deep breaths.
Enjoy your freedom to move and the experience and awareness of your body.
Less weight = more energy.
If you want to loose weight and feel better it’s actually really easy - Eat less!
And just like exercising you know what you have to do. Don’t overcomplicate it.
Eat more clean fresh food, Load up on vegetables and fruits and reduce fats and carbohydrates.
Fasting has become popular and it’s one fad that I feel has long term benefits. Again don’t over do it. Either do the 5 – 2 where you eat only 500 calories over two non-consecutive days a week or eat only during an eight hour period during the day. This means that you maximise your night-time fasting. Choose the 8 hours that suit your life. I like to delay eating until 10 or 11 am and then have a light lunch and eat dinner around 6 or 7pm. I find that I also sleep better.
The benefits of fasting are mainly that your stomach and intestines get a chance to rest and recuperate and allows for cleansing and detoxification of the body.
Choose one of these 5 top tips each day to focus on and make it really easy.
To help and support you towards more energy and vitality I also encourage you to make use of the Altearah Bio perfume and body oil in Royal Purple.
The Royal Purple blend of pure organic essential oils delivers more Energy to your body and mind. Royal Purple is the colour for grounding and getting close to the earth, giving you strength and stability and a renewed source of energy. The hero in this blend is Clove essential oil which is a neurotonic; it invigorates the body by supporting the nervous system. The blend also includes Cedar and Geranium to re-establish a rhythm with life and get you back in sync with yourself or when you feel emotionally exhausted.
To have the life of your dreams and a life worth living get more energy, get out and enjoy all that life has to offer.

Being confident allows you have faith in yourself and believe that you can achieve what you set your mind to. It means that you are able to take control of your life and enjoy the fruits of your efforts as opposed to being controlled by life circumstance. This means that you have much more satisfaction and greater happiness.
]]>
Confidence is like gold; highly sought after but frustratingly aloof.
It can slip through your fingers like sand at the most critical times.
Just when you need it the most; on your first date, going for a job interview, giving your presentation; it so often lets you down.
Imagine if you could keep a bottle of it in your pocket, or smother yourself with it every morning. How would that make a difference?
Well you can! But more on that later……
…….But first:
What is confidence?
Confidence is that beautiful balance between inferiority and superiority; knowing that you are as good as anyone else but not better. It means having a good level of self-esteem with out being arrogant.
Why is confidence important?
Being confident allows you have faith in yourself and believe that you can achieve what you set your mind to. It means that you are able to take control of your life and enjoy the fruits of your efforts as opposed to being controlled by life circumstance. This means that you have much more satisfaction and greater happiness.
Being confident allows you to have faith in yourself
When you are confident you know:
Wow how good would that feel?
So how do you get confidence?
Confidence is found in a healthy orientation on ‘Self’. When we look outside of ourselves for validation or approval we give our power away. We make someone else responsible for our happiness. Self worth cannot come from another – that would be ‘other worth’ and it has no value.
Ideally we learn it naturally as we develop it through our childhood. When we are accepted, acknowledged and loved by our family and friends we know that we are safe and valued. Feeling valued helps build our confidence; this is why we must value ourselves.
If we were not fortunate enough to have these things as children it is important to consciously develop it as adults. It’s like any other training you have to work at it and build that muscle.
Here are 6 steps to building self Confidence. Consider how you feel about each one of these. Repeat the affirmation (aloud preferably) and be aware how you are feeling as you say them.
Pick one each day to focus on. Repeat the words over and over in your mind or aloud where possible. Think of yourself as you would think of a best friend and be kind and supportive. Notice how your body reacts and changes.
To be powerful and confident we have to give ourselves what we need. This is what it means to be an adult; to being a separate, fully functioning individual. Remember “what others think about me is none of my business” but what I think about me is the only opinion that counts.
Being confident allows you to have faith in yourself and believe that you can achieve what you set your mind to. Don’t wait to love yourself. Be your own person. You deserve it.
.......Now back to the bottle of confidence to have in your pocket. Well here it is:
Altearah Bio has crafted a stunning blend of essential oils that reflect the colour of gold and confidence to help you express your own personal unique identity.
You can choose of a perfume spray, body oil or roll-on serum each one will support you on your journey to a deeper connection to yourself. Use your chosen product or products every day while you do your affirmations and the organic aromatherapy scent will calm your anxiety, reconnect and promote inner radiance and restore your confidence.
Let yourself be who you are and discover who you could become.
]]>Go ahead… take a few moments to bask in your childhood memories and time spent with your loved ones.
If you’re like me, you probably imagine an array of gorgeous red, green, and golden twinkling lights and decorations.
We’ve all come to embrace these traditional Christmas colours that decorate our trees, homes and towns, but have you ever wondered why the colours green, red, and gold have become significant symbols of Christmas?
Pour yourself a mug of mulled wine, hot chocolate, or cuppa tea and keep reading as we delve into the origins of these Christmas colour traditions.
The Origins Of Christmas Colours
Even though we live in the Southern Hemisphere, and experience glorious sun at this time of year, you’ll probably find yourself drawn to holiday movies set in a winter wonderland! This makes sense considering Christmas originated from the frosty cold northern hemisphere seeking some light and hope in the depths of winter.
Green Was Used Before Christ
For thousand of years, before Christ, evergreen plants such as Holly, Ivy, and Mistletoe have been used to liven up and brighten homes throughout the long dark winters.
Seen as “magical” plants, which seemed to thrive throughout the dark, cold winter season, evergreen plants became symbols of life and growth.
These days the most common use of green at Christmas is our Christmas trees which are decorated and strung up with an adornment of gorgeous lights, precious ornaments and special star or angel toppers.
While our trees seem to get brighter each year, it started quite humbly in fact with Pagans who used trees in their homes to symbolise a flourishing upcoming spring season.
The Pagan tradition spread all throughout Europe and gradually became part of the Christian celebrations. The Christmas tree made it’s way to England (from Germany) at the request of Queen Victoria who encouraged her German husband Albert to decorate a tree for their children as Albert had done in his childhood.
The trees were traditionally decorated with red fruits such as apples, nuts, sweets, and holly.
As a child growing up in Ireland we used the dark, green, shiny holly with little red berries to bring colour and life into our homes. My father would go for a long walk out over the fields and come back with bunches which we carefully placed over pictures and on the mantel of the fireplace!
When we think about the holistic healing practice of colour therapy, it’s interesting to see how these Christmas colours have a particular significance.
Green represents growth, life, renewal and regeneration. Emerald green helps to heal the heart including painful memories from the past even from childhood. It opens the diaphragm and creates an open environment and sense of expansion.
Red brings warmth, passion and fire. It’s strong and encourages action and inspiration. Red connects us into the earth and to all things material and physical. It is our spiritual connection to the manifestation of our physical experience
White comes in to clean everything and represents purity, light and goodness. On the surface Gold adds some glitz and glamour but actually goes much deeper. Gold symbolises wisdom, knowledge and light and enhances our connection to abundance.
Most of the time when we notice colours in our environment, we don’t tend to give much thought to it, we just see it and go on with our days without paying attention to how it affects us mentally and emotionally.
So stop and don’t only smell the pine trees this Christmas, take time to truly see them. Enjoy each and every colour and light. There is a whole story going on; from the healing of the past to connecting to the present, cleansing and clearing and preparing us for the New Year ahead so we can step forward with confidence and cheer.
]]>Do you need to find some peace?
Let me show you how;
In a world that is chaotic, topsy-turvy and stressful, the most valuable lesson we can learn is how to remain peaceful, quiet, calm and composed. When the world around us is going crazy we need to ground ourselves and avoid getting caught up in the whirlwind of activity and angst. Would learning how to do this help you?
Finding Peace is important for the health of your body and mind. When you can find some peace and quiet it allows you to stabilise yourself and know that you are safe.
When you want peace in the world, to quote Michael Jackson “start with the man in the mirror”.
Peace comes from within. When we stop waging war on ourselves, when we stop beating ourselves up for all the reasons we think we are not good enough; When we decide to make peace with ourselves and accept who we are, right here and right now, that’s when we can accept the world with all its failings and we can make the world a better place.
Making peace does not mean we are lazy or apathetic or unconcerned. It means we are accepting, kind and forgiving. The big difference here is that the energy of peace comes from love rather than fear, which makes Peace inspiring and stimulating because it comes with wisdom and discernment.
But how do you find Peace in the middle of the chaos?
There is often a list of things that has to be done but for the next 5 minutes let’s put that list aside and stop. Peace puts us in a state of self-acceptance. Accepting that we are in the right place and it’s the right time to be here - doing nothing. Yes the answer is to slow down and stop ….. just for 5 minutes.
So let’s reflect on how you are ‘being’ not on how you are doing! Take stock of your energy. How are you feeling? What is the vibration of your energy body?
Now place your hands on your tummy and breathe; long slow deep breaths in and out. Repeat the words: I am ok, I am safe.
I am at peace.
Peace comes through me
Repeat this simple process a few times a day until that energy becomes more of your norm rather than the exception. To make it even easier I recommend the Blue spray for immediate relief. Spray the perfume into your hands, rub them together to warm up the perfume then when it is dry breathe deeply 3 to 4 times. Feel your body respond instantly.
If overwhelm and internal conflict are habits of yours then use the Blue body oil. The body oil travels deeper, calming your nervous system, relaxing your tummy and helping you surrender. Use it every day, morning and night and watch your body and energy change.
]]>But the evidence is growing, research is mounting and I have experienced directly how harmful these chemicals can be to our health.
Its time to rescue your family from the bathroom!
Did you know that many of the world’s most famous perfumes have well-known nasty side effects, with links to cancer, reproductive issues, toxicity and allergies?
The nasty hidden chemicals used in perfumes are so toxic that they disrupt your hormones linking their use to some cancers, thyroid disease, obesity, asthma and diabetes.
As we use more personal care products, these chemicals are adding to the toxic load on our bodies and contributing to the rising number of people diagnosed with cancer – particularly in young women.
Since I was asked to blog on the subject recently, my investigations have made me wake up to the dangers and I am now monitoring which products my family is using.
The 5 main toxins found in perfumes that need to be avoided are:
Image by Joe La Pompe. www.joelapompe.net
US Government Report:
In 2010 the US government undertook a two-year investigation into the effects of environmental pollutants on cancer. As a result the US President’s Cancer Panel report recommended that pregnant women and couples planning to have children should reduce their exposure to phthalates, commonly found in perfume, and other hormone-disrupting chemicals due to cancer concerns.
The report stated that:
. . . the true burden of environmentally induced cancer has been grossly underestimated.”
The report particularly mentioned the phthalate group of chemicals stating that:
“Animal studies link phthalate exposure in the womb to a greater risk of infertility genital birth defects and testicular cancer”.
Another study done in 2014 showed that phthalates are linked to prostrate cancer and reduced sperm count.
Hidden ingredients:
Unfortunately many people are completely oblivious to the toxins used in perfumes.
The problem is that the ingredients do not have to be listed on the bottles unlike foods, pharmaceutical and cleaning products sold in of Australia, which require the ingredients to be disclosed on the packaging. In the perfume industry these are considered trade secrets and therefore do not have to be revealed.
An ingredient labelled ‘fragrance’ could mean anything.
This is why I am increasingly passionate about providing clean, safe alternatives for our personal care and that of our families. Altearah Bio insists on only the best of organic ingredients and you can rest assured everything is natural and healthy.
Shahida Siddique, owner of Altearah Bio states, “I am committed to Safe Cosmetics and work towards educating consumers on unsafe ingredients. Of course Altearah Bio being certified 100 % organic is totally safe to use.”
You can happily use Altearah Bio with confidence.

]]>The function of our skin is vital for good health and in fact survival. Have you seen the
movie Gold Finger? The ‘Bond Girl’ is covered in gold paint and subsequently dies. Our skin needs to breath and if it can’t breath our health is jeopardized.
]]>1. Protection: the skin is the physical barrier of the body to protect it form sun damage, bacteria and injury.
2. Sensation: the skin in the sensory receptors for touch, pressure, heat and cold, warning the brain of pain and danger but also contact and personal connection.
3. Temperature regulation: the skin releases sweat to cool the body and adjusts blood flow to the skin dermis for heating and cooling.
4. Excretion: waste products such as ammonia and urea are released through the skin. It is an elimination channel for a healthy body.
5. Absorption: Vitamins A, D, E and K are absorbed through the skin. Oxygen and carbon dioxide are also absorbed this way.
6. Endocrine function: the skin absorbs chemicals from the sun that are used to make Vitamin D for strong bones and muscles.
So what are you putting on your skin?
Using organic products on your skin obviously makes good common sense.
What you put on your skin goes into your body!
What you put on your skin goes into your bloodstream and is distributed around the body. You can actually absorb more toxins through your skin than from your food. Worse still your food is broken down and sorted by your digestive system so that the toxins is filtered out but the skin doesn’t have this function. The toxic chemicals go through the blood to the liver to be cleaned up but this puts more workload on our already over burdened liver.
According to Therese Kerr, Miranda Kerr’s Mum and owner of the Divine organic product range:
“Our bodies weren’t designed to be loaded with toxic chemicals and on average a women will put around 250+ chemicals on her skin a day, of which 65-70 percent will be absorbed into her body.”
The Altearah Bio Body oils are natural and organic and above all beneficial for you and your skin. They are made form certified organic vegetable oils which are cold pressed and unscented. The mother’s role is pivotal, particularly in the early part of the child’s life when nurturing and comfort are so important. Mothers often sacrifice themselves for the sake of their children and husbands and even elderly parents.
When I’m working with my clients I regularly remind them how important it is to be aware of the energy they bring to any relationship or task. One day while talking to a young mum about the challenges she was experiencing I was agreeing with her about how hard it can be to be a mother. We so badly want to get it right. We all want to do better than our parents so the expectations are high. So in my efforts to support her I suddenly became aware of what I was actually saying to her. “Mothering is the toughest job in the world”,
“Mothering is hard and exhausting”
Wow I thought – how heavy is that?
But I was just being honest in my empathy for her. I had experienced these feeling my self at times and I knew so many mums both personally and professionally that felt this way.
What I realized in that instance is that this was such a negative belief in our image of the role and it would be much better to come at it another way.
Rather than getting overwhelmed by the task of mothering we would be much better connecting with the role that we want to play. Be the kind of mother we want to be; the archetypal mother - nurturing, loving and supportive but also fun.
Instead of putting too much time and effort in to the task we could invest more heart and emotion. But to be a more loving and nurturing mother we need to love and nurture ourselves. You cannot be something you don’t feel. So the mother’s most important task is to invest in her own daily self-renewal and to cultivate her strengths and good qualities. By feeling nurtured, strong and balanced, mothers demonstrate that same state of being to their children.
Remember our children will practice what you do, not what you say. Our daughters, will mother as you have. Teach them to be kind to themselves, have self-respect and be self-empowered but above all have Fun!
How do you like to have fun with your kids?
I used to love cuddling up on the lounge and watching the kids movies with them. We love Hercules, the Little Mermaid and the Lion King
What are your favourite memories with your mum?
Or share your favourite way to nurture yourself and if you don’t, what will you chose?

]]>Each one delivers you with the opportunity to experience a mood and sensation that is unique and personal. Where else are you able to select from 14 emotions, each one delicately blended to take you on a journey into yourself.
Because the perfumes are certified organic and natural they are organic by their very nature in that they work with your skin, your energy and your vibration. There are no artificial chemicals that jar against your body and confuse your instincts.
There are many reasons why people wear perfume: to smell nice, to feel more beautiful, more confident, to attract attention but ultimately its to feel good. The Altearah Bio perfumes will take you to a place of quiet and calm, instantly and gently. It connects you back to the essences of who you are.
At Altearah we use our perfumes differently too. With other perfumes you spray the fragrance onto your wrists and neck and you can certainly do that with your Altearah Bio but to experience the emotional sensation you go a step further.
Introducing the Altearah Ritual:
Become aware of how your body experiences the perfume. Many people say they feel a sense of uplift or lightness. Some feel tingling in the head and shoulders. What is your response? Let me know.\
Do this as often as you can throughout the day to reinforce and re-educate your body to regularly experience this new emotion.
Next we will look at the Body oils.

]]>We all prefer the colour version but have you considered the fact that that you actually cannot survive without colour?
Colour is light and light, as in sunlight, is essential for life on this planet. Plants and microorganisms need it for photosynthesis to make food while we need light for heat and vision. Sunlight is absorbed through our skin and is necessary in order for our bodies to produce and use certain vitamins and minerals. Colour is fundamental to our existence whether we are aware of it or not.
We are constantly exposed to colour:
Blue of the sky is calming
Green of the grass and trees is liberating
Brown of the earth is grounding and nurturing
And then all the beautiful colours in between that bring us joy and pleasure.
The use of colour as a therapy has been around for centuries. The origins of healing with colour in Western civilisation can be traced back to the mythology of Ancient Egypt and Greece and evidence of this can be found in ancient texts from India, China and Egypt.
Colour is simply light of varying wavelengths and, as such, is a form of energy used in Colour Therapy. Everything is made up of electromagnetic energy vibrating at different frequencies that correspond to sound, light and colour. The human eye can only see a very short proportion of light within the electromagnetic spectrum. Each colour has a unique frequency and different properties.
Along the spectrum
The theory behind colour therapy is that different colours stimulate or inhibit the functioning of different parts of the body. Treatment with the appropriate colour could restore balance and normal functioning. Certainly the cells of the body react to light or the absence of it – light is necessary for life and the absence can affect people mentally emotionally as well as physically. We are all aware of the Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which results in feelings of depression during winter when there is reduced exposure to light. Directly stimulating the pituitary gland and the pineal are known to cause changes in the gland function and the production of the relative hormones affecting sleep patterns, metabolic rate and mood.
Psychologists have found that colour affects our preferences, characters, behaviors and personality. Marketing and advertising companies go to great lengths to determine the effects of colour on our motivation to buy, while interior stylists use colour to create specific moods and our experience of spaces.

So how do you find harmony?
To foster more acceptance and peace in our communities we have to first find peace in ourselves and accept who WE are. When you make peace with yourself and accept who and what you are, by deciding who You want to be - then you find harmony!
You are in charge of your own definition. As Eleanor Roosevelt famously said: “No-one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” When we are happy with ourselves we can feel more confident and self-assured so we can less influenced by the opinions of others. Self worth can only come from you. If you are looking for ‘self-worth’ in the approval of others, then it can only be ‘other-worth” and it is of no use to you. But when you are happy with and accept who you are then you can develop our own individuality and personal strength.
The beautiful thing about empowering yourself is that you can then send peace and love out to others and allow them to be who they are. To help you find more self-acceptance I would recommend regular use of the orange oil; creativity. Orange encourages us to connect with ourselves and accept who we are. Yellow is for joy and also for assisting us in enjoying our own individuality and self-empowerment. Or you might use Gold for self-identity and confidence. Do you see how many times I’ve said self - that’s what it’s all about!
Blue is for peace and for the expression of who you are, so that would be great in the perfume on top of your oil of choice.
If you would like any help in choosing the best colour (although you can’t go wrong with any of them) but you are welcome to contact me for more assistance. Create yourself and enjoy being you.
]]>The first, toxicity is wrapped in fat cells and stored in the body and we definitely don’t want that.
]]>The first, toxicity is wrapped in fat cells and stored in the body and we definitely don’t want that.
And second, toxicity causes inflammation giving you stiff joints, arthritis and pain.
The 5 major negative emotions are:
Anger sadness and grief deplete the heart making it feel heavy and leading to depression.
Fear makes us feel threatened it agitates the nervous system putting us into fight/flight response and leads to anxiety.
Guilt affects our sense of self worth making us feel that we are not good enough and destroys our self-confidence.
It is important to clarify that is really no such thing as a negative emotion because in fact every emotion serves a purpose and provided the emotion is expressed appropriately it will do no harm. The problem occurs when we are not able to express the emotion and release it from the body. The chemical reaction to the emotion is then stuck in the body and becomes toxic. So it is the holding on as opposed to letting go of emotion that causes the problem.
At Self Centred we specialise in assisting you to release old negative emotion freeing your body from toxicity.

]]>We have been promoting ‘White’ this month on Altearah Australia with the purpose of supporting your cleansing and renewal for the New Year.
And while I was discussing the virtues of the white fragrance recently I related a story about just how powerful these products are; so I though I would share it with you.
You should know that the colour White is recommended for jetlag as it cleans the pollution accumulated from flights and changing time zones. But a word of warning here;
I came back from a recent trip to Europe and being keen to avoid the horrible fog of jetlag I enthusiastically lathered my body with the Altearah White Body Oil. In fact I did it three times a day for the next two days until the cleansing took on a meaning of its own. Lets just say I could not leave the bathroom for a day or two. I felt that I was cleansing body and soul! And then after it settled I felt amazing.
So take it easy start slowly and build it up. Happy cleansing.
Here’s a program of healing and cleansing that your going to love.
First you should understand that toxicity is the result of ‘excess’; maybe too much food or drink, what you don’t know is, often it’s a result of too much stress. To detox we really need to restore our balance. So let’s focus on resting , restoring and recuperating.
Luxury detox:
Step 1; White Scrub. Inject a new energy in the whole body and mind.
It will increase circulation and stimulation to prepare and help good body elimination. White is the colour of purity and cleansing, and is the best foundation for clearing toxicity and pollution.
The scrub is made from Himalayan salt which is full of natural and healing minerals. It exfoliates and nourishes the skin at the same time.
Use daily for up to 5 days and then once or twice a week regularly.
Step 2; Royal Purple Body Oil. Use Royal purple to support good vitality and passion while preserving your deep resources. This is the colour for grounding and restoring your energy, giving you strength and stability.
The Altearah Bio body oil is made from organic vegetable oil blended with the natural essential oils so they are full of good omega 3 and 6 fats that are great for your nervous system as well as your skin.
Squeeze a few drops into a well in your hand, rub your hands together and then rub all over the body. During your detox use the body oil 3 times a day if possible but especially after your shower and then daily ongoing.
Step 3; Orange Perfume. Use the orange perfume throughout the day during your detox to balance your emotions and reconnect with your emotional body. Orange assists us to accept and nourish ourselves, making it easier to find contentment and joy in just feeling good. Just Be. Orange is great for the digestive system and emotional eating. It is warm and sensual and connects us to our femininity.
Spray the perfume onto the hand, rub the hands together to let the liquid evaporate a little, then take your hands to your face and take 3- 4 long slow deep breaths.
Relax, Enjoy and Repeat again tomorrow and for the next 7 days. You’ll feel like a new person.
Drink lots of clean water, eat natural fresh food and get outside surrounded by nature’s green under her blue skies. Yoga is perfect but any light exercise is going to boost your energy and give you a radiant glow.
I have more ideas and suggestions about detoxing and pampering to help you feel great, call me on 0407 468533 or you can check out more colours and options at www.altearah.com.au. There’s a special package offer waiting for you there to make your pampering even more satisfying.
This is your perfect pamper program for any weekend; simply feel good about yourself.
Enjoy -
Maureen

]]>Why does it never seem to be enough? There is always more to do; the list never ends.
The need to excel and the drive to do more, have more, to be better, smarter, prettier, thinner never seems to stop. The demands of our modern society are insatiable. Especially with Christmas coming up lets ask, how much is enough?
The word enough has lost it’s meaning. Enough means adequate for the need or want; sufficient for the purpose or to satisfy the desire. If we say we have done enough it smacks of average or a poor effort. There is a fear that being happy with enough means that we are not improving, being content might mean that we rest on our laurels.
But more than enough is too much and becomes excessive.
Are we trying to prove something to ourselves or to others? There is a fear that if we don’t keep striving that we will lose something. Our competitors will take our business, another student will get my place, I won’t get the promotion. This is just fear; fear that there is not enough. This is a belief in lack and reflects a lack in ourselves.
I don’t believe it is in our natural human condition to stop growing; improvement after all is natural. But when we are crippled by too high an expectation it makes us feel inadequate. When a parent in all good intention encourages and pushes their child to strive for more we are telling then that they are inadequate. Why do we value hard work more than we value ease, pleasure and well-being.
Lets encourage and value feeling satisfied, and that means content and complete. When did you last come home at the end of a busy day feeling content and complete?
Let’s give ourselves a break.
It’s time to realize that we have enough; enough to eat, enough to drink. That we have done enough, worked enough, know enough, helped enough and that we ARE Enough.
Orange helps us to come back to ourselves. When we love and accept ourselves it is easier to feel content and complete and we find more joy in just feeling good about ourselves. This is the energy of Orange. It delights in abundance and the joy of receiving. It is resourceful, enthusiastic and creative. When we relax and know that we are enough our health improves. Orange is great for digestion, immunity, warmth and sensuality. It is useful for resolving the conflicts in relationships especially the maternal ones – because we learn that we are enough.
Enough is enough! So stop and take a break so that you can create and express your life as you desire.
]]>It’s difficult to truly express how delighted I am to be able to launch this website and bring these beautiful products to you. The Altearah Bio range has inspired, healed and supported me for around 8 years now. As we do in so many things I resisted at the beginning, I thought I knew better, but over time the Altearah Perfumes and the Altearah Body Oils made their way into my practice and into my life and I’m so glad.
Our family moved to Dubai in 2007 for a two-year project for my husband. Shortly after arriving I happen to pass by an interesting medical practice, ‘Synergy Integrated Medical Centre’ so I enquired if they were interested in having a Kinesiologist join their team. They were! It was the beginning of an amazing, challenging, exciting learning curve that I shared with a wonderful group of medical and alternative healers. It was a busy practice and very well respected, all to the credit of a husband and wide team, Randy and Suzanne Phillips.
I had already been practicing kinesiology for nearly ten years and had my own kit of support tools but Suzanne encouraged me to use the Altearah Australia products. Pretty perfumes didn’t seem too serious and weren’t going to cut it for me, I preferred my Bach flower essences. But with an open mind I added them to my list of options and was continually surprised by the wisdom, the value and the power of these simple perfumes and oils. They are like a gift from heaven; seriously.
We left Dubai in 2011 returning to Sydney so our kids could finish high school. I started up my Self Centred wellness business again but by now I couldn’t work without Altearah Bio. I started buying them in and recommending them to my clients here. Of course they loved them and more importantly benefited from them. It was not my intention to start a business in sales so again I resisted. But not anymore. Everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy the Altearah perfumes, Altearah body oils and Altearah scrubs.
So don’t resist like me but embrace the magical effects of these delightful organic cosmetics. They offer a wonderful opportunity to be kind to yourself, nurture your body and mind and practice patience and compassion as you learn and grow.
Blue will bring you peace, and calm the internal conflict, pink is for tenderness and creates a sense of comfort and understanding. Royal purple forms a new foundation, easing the nervous system with a sense of stability and strength. No-one can be without silver; use it to repair anything – from burns and bruises to an aching heart and overwhelming emotions. Browse through the colours and pick what you would wish for yourself as if you were your own best friend…. And then get one for your friend!!
Whatever you chose it will be the right one, trust me. We all have all these colours and vibrations in us and around us, and each one will bring you what you need. Healing, supporting and nurturing yourself has never been so easy and so much fun – enjoy.
